CrossFit Games 2024 – The Ultimate Guide

What are the CrossFit Games?

The CrossFit Games are an open competition where athletes from around the world can enter by completing a set of workouts from home or their local gym and submit their scores on the CrossFit Games website. The CrossFit Open was first established in 2011 and was the first competition of its kind - since then it has only grown in popularity. The aim of the CrossFit Games is to find and crown the fittest person on earth!

How is the CrossFit Open scored?

The CrossFit Open is judged based on the Hopper Model of fitness which involves a metaphorical “Hopper” where numerous physical challenges can be placed. These challenges can vary widely in nature to test a broad level of fitness including:

POWER

SPEED

COORDINATION

AGILITY

BALANCE

ACCURACY

Points are awarded to entrants based on their performance for each workout in the competition and added to the overall leaderboard. The Open also features different divisions such as age and gender so that athletes are able to compete against others in a similar demographic.

RX or Scaled Workouts

Entrants have the choice to enter the competition by competing in prescribed ‘Rx’ workouts or scaled workouts. Rx workouts are performed with the exact weights and movements outlined in the workout criteria. Whereas Scaled variations are allowed to be modified to be more accessible.
